7 days of Existence is an installation piece extending the concept of the ongoing series 22 days onto an exhibition.
Several pinhole cameras are placed in a corner of the showcasing space, arranged as a CCTV camera pole.

The entirety of the exhibition is captured on photographic paper.
Upon arrival at the space the spectators are advised that they are under ‘surveillance’.

Unlike the 22 days series where cameras were placed in private spaces interfering with the everyday life of participants, these cameras are set up in a public space.
Visitors are not being told how and why they are filmed but knowing that they are being watched will affect the way they feel while being in the space.

The cameras will record who comes and goes, just like digital CCTV cameras, but the information will not be stored but overwritten by the actions of the following day, merging the events of the 7 day exhibition.

We all exist in more than one way, we have an analogue self as well as a digital self.
Both are watched, in obvious ways like CCTV or hidden like the monitoring of our social media and telecommunication.

The result of 7 days of existence is a series of images, abstract pictures of the exhibition from different angles and point of views, where the spectators themselves have become the subject.

By visiting the exhibition, they become the artwork.
